Christian Modesty
Course Information

This 5-unit course is geared for junior high or high school girls and covers why modesty is important to Christians. It makes a great home-school elective or supplementary course. 

The course features colorful lessons, quizzes, written assignments, and discussion boards.

The Course Author teaches the course online, will grade written assignments, and will interact with your students as they progress.

A Course completion certificate is available upon successful completion of the course.

Course Description

Some of the most important issues in the Christian faith are also some of the most difficult to teach.  This is true for a few reasons: 

• The Holy Spirit must have the leading role in any teaching/learning relationship. 
• Rote memorization of Scripture or reading massive amounts on a subject that is essentially a spiritual matter puts the student at risk for bloating up with head knowledge. This can result in an illusion of spiritual progress when, in fact, it has put her in danger of merely being “puffed up” with the pride of her intellectual accomplishments.
• Leading a student through truth without lapsing into legalism and lists of “do’s and don’ts,” and yet addressing the subject in a way that opens her eyes to the specifics of the issue, can be like nailing gelatin to the wall. 
• It can be difficult to help people understand that certain issues that are not necessarily part of the Ten Commandments can be just as crucial to faith and practice.

And yet, it is also true that we certainly understand immodesty when we see it.  In its most disconcerting form, it walks down the stairs in one’s own home on its way to school or to be with her friends, and we realize that we have been remiss in this important area of instruction.

Are we too late?  No.  Our adolescents are uneasy about not knowing what the limits are.  In spite of the demeanor that they, at times, present to us, they are secretly relieved when we offer them opportunity, not only through the limits we set, but also through the information that we make available to them.

This course on Christian Feminine Modesty is such an opportunity.  Using Scripture, Biblical characters, and some plain talk about the world in which we live, it presents clarity on an obscure issue.  Issues are dealt with sensitively, but forthrightly. 

A special bonus is the segment on the conscience.  And yet nowhere in the lessons will you find a list of that which is acceptable and unacceptable in this area.  The ultimate goal is for the young woman to use the tools that it provides to forge her own convictions in this area.
